Morley Glass has strengthened its Uni-Blinds offer with the ScreenLine SL16, a slimline integral blind system designed specifically for new build windows and doors that must meet Part Q’s enhanced security requirements. Uniquely available in the UK through Morley Glass, the SL16 enables installers to provide secure, Part Q-compliant units with Venetian blinds housed within standard 28mm IGUs – eliminating the need for oversized glazing cavities.
Unlike standard integral blinds, which typically require a 20mm cavity, the SL16 operates within a 16mm cavity thanks to its refined engineering. This compact format means developers can combine P1A safety glass with integral blinds even in high-risk access points such as French doors or door vision panels, all while maintaining the industry’s preferred 28mm IGU profile. A typical configuration utilises a 6.8mm toughened laminated outer pane with a 4mm inner pane.
Morley Glass highlights the security advantage of an integrated blind system: blinds remain sealed within the glass unit, providing instant, effortless privacy while reducing visibility into the home, a detail increasingly valued in residential schemes vulnerable to opportunistic intrusion.
Aesthetics have also been strengthened through an expanded contemporary colour palette. Venetian slats are now offered in agate grey (S120), anthracite (S159) and black (B160), alongside popular classics such as white beige (S125) and grey (S155), supporting modern aluminium and PVCu frame trends.
Ian Short, managing director of Morley Glass, commented that the SL16 solves a long-standing specification challenge: “With many window and door systems used in new build based on a 28mm IGU, the SL16 overcomes the challenge of ensuring Part Q compliance where the property buyer would like integral blinds.” He also confirmed the forthcoming launch of the SL16MB brushless motorised option.
Manufactured to order at the company’s Yorkshire facility, SL16 units are delivered to customers within 10–12 working days, maintaining the rapid turnaround expected from the Uni-Blinds portfolio.
