Ximin Glass Egypt has officially begun construction of a new $70 million glass manufacturing facility in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), marking a significant addition to Egypt’s growing industrial base. The project is a joint venture between Elsewedy Industrial Development and Xinmin Glass Egypt, a subsidiary of China-based Anhui Xinmin Glass.
Located within Sokhna 360, the integrated industrial city developed by Elsewedy Industrial Development in the Sokhna Industrial Zone, the project spans 163,000 square metres and will be developed across three phases. Total investments are expected to exceed $70 million, with more than $30 million allocated to the first phase alone.

Once operational, the plant will manufacture glass tableware, borosilicate glass products and kitchenware, serving both local and export markets. At full capacity, the facility is designed to produce over 516 million pieces annually and is expected to create more than 3,000 direct and indirect jobs, contributing to regional economic development.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by senior government and SCZONE officials, including Major General Tarek El Shazly, Governor of Suez, and SCZONE Vice Chairmen Capt. Ahmed Gamal and Mostafa Sheikhon, alongside representatives from Elsewedy Industrial Development and Anhui Xinmin Glass.
The first production phase is scheduled to commence in July 2026, reinforcing SCZONE’s position as a key hub for industrial investment and international manufacturing partnerships.
