A breakthrough in façade technology is reshaping how architects approach energy-efficient design. Vacuum insulating glass (VIG) is now delivering insulation performance once thought impossible for transparent systems, reaching up to R18 in a slim, eight-millimeter profile. Developed and manufactured by LuxWall in the United States, these advanced glazing units combine high thermal efficiency with minimal thickness, enabling windows to perform more like insulated walls.
As highlighted by Art Huard of NVOY, recent advancements in production have resolved long-standing cost and scalability challenges, making VIG a viable option for commercial projects. This innovation opens new possibilities for high-performance building envelopes, helping designers meet stricter energy codes without compromising aesthetics or daylighting.
