The 40th Şişecam International Glass Conference will take place on 18–19 June 2026 in Istanbul, bringing together researchers, engineers and industry leaders to address the technological and energy challenges reshaping global glass production. Organized in a hybrid format, the event is built around the theme “United to Innovate – A Future-Focused Transformation of Energy & Glass.”

Founded in 1985 as the Şişecam Glass Symposium, the event has evolved into one of Europe’s established scientific platforms for glass technology. Over four decades, it has expanded from a regional symposium into an international conference hosting hundreds of participants from academia and industry, including previous collaborations held jointly with the International Commission on Glass (ICG). The 2026 edition marks the 40-year milestone of continuous technical exchange and research-driven dialogue.

The conference programme will focus on concrete industry priorities rather than general discussion. Key topics include improving furnace energy efficiency, reducing carbon emissions in glass production, advancements in raw material and batch optimisation, and new processes aimed at lowering environmental impact.
