Wigan, UK – Nippon Electric Glass (NEG) has taken a proactive step towards energy efficiency and operational excellence at its Wigan facility. Collaborating with Siemens, a leading provider of innovative solutions, NEG underwent a comprehensive assessment of its processes and equipment. The aim was to identify areas for improvement and implement strategic measures to optimize energy usage.
Siemens’ team of experts meticulously analyzed the facility and recommended a range of solutions to enhance operational efficiencies. This encompassed the installation of state-of-the-art Siemens motors, controllers, water pumps, flow meters, and over 3,000 energy-efficient LED light fittings. The holistic approach ensured that every aspect of the production processes was optimized for energy conservation and performance.
As a prominent energy-intensive user, NEG has long been committed to reducing its carbon footprint and energy consumption. Steve Keeton, Managing Director at NEG, emphasized the company’s dedication to ethical practices and circularity. With 50 percent of their product going into wind turbine blades, NEG aimed to further raise the bar by investing in energy-efficient upgrades at its Wigan site.
With the support of Siemens Financial Services (SFS), NEG was able to consolidate multiple projects into a single manageable payment structure. SFS offered a unique financing arrangement that aligned with the expected savings over a five-year contract. The payment terms were designed to ensure that NEG began repayment only after experiencing the verified benefits of the implemented projects. In fact, the achieved savings surpassed the guaranteed figures, showcasing the exceptional performance of Siemens and opening doors for additional projects.
Through the collaborative efforts of NEG and Siemens, the Wigan facility is now operating with enhanced energy efficiency, reduced operational costs, and increased sustainability. This success not only showcases Siemens’ expertise but also sets the stage for further advancements in energy conservation and operational excellence at NEG.
