Kibar Americas has officially reopened the former Novelis aluminium facility in Fairmont, West Virginia, marking the return of aluminium manufacturing to the site following its closure more than a year ago. The company held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 14, attended by company representatives, government officials, customers, suppliers and industry stakeholders.
Production has already started at the Fairmont facility, which will manufacture flat-rolled aluminium products serving applications including HVAC, automotive, packaging and industrial markets. The reopening represents Kibar Americas’ expansion of its manufacturing footprint in the United States and strengthens its position in the North American aluminium market.
The company initially plans to create up to 150 jobs, with approximately 60 employees already hired. Around 20 of those employees previously worked at the facility when it operated under Novelis, bringing existing experience back to the site.
Kibar Americas is the wholly owned US subsidiary of Assan Alüminyum, the Istanbul-based flat-rolled aluminium producer. The Fairmont investment forms part of Assan Alüminyum’s broader expansion in North America, establishing additional production capacity closer to key customers and end-use markets.
