Kingspan Group has completed a 29,000-square-foot retrofit and expansion of its North American headquarters in DeLand, Florida, showcasing a strong focus on sustainability and high-performance building solutions.

Unveiled in mid-April, the upgraded facility retains much of the existing structure while significantly improving the building envelope and interior spaces. The renovation introduces new office areas, shared workstations, break rooms, and a modern client experiential space designed to highlight Kingspan’s product systems in a real-world environment.

The building incorporates over 21,000 square feet of insulating metal wall panels and 30,000 square feet of insulating metal roof panels, alongside integrated façade, insulation, skylight, and ductwork solutions. These upgrades aim to enhance energy efficiency and overall building performance.

A key aspect of the project is its emphasis on circular construction and reduced embodied carbon. Kingspan reused major portions of the existing structure and recycled substantial volumes of materials, including 84,680 pounds of sheetrock, 1.3 million pounds of asphalt, and 900,000 pounds of concrete. Additionally, 3,000 ceiling tiles were donated to local businesses in the Daytona area affected by hurricanes.

Approximately 99% of construction waste was diverted from landfill through recycling, reuse, and donation initiatives.

With these improvements, the facility is targeting LEED v4 BD+C Gold certification, as well as Net Zero Carbon and Energy certification from the International Living Future Institute, reinforcing its role as a model for sustainable retrofit projects.
