Davide Cappellino Re-elected Chairman of Glass for Europe

Davide Cappellino has been re-elected as Chairman of Glass for Europe, following the association’s General Assembly held on 11 March. The Board of Directors unanimously confirmed his leadership for a second two-year mandate, reinforcing continuity at a critical time for the European flat glass sector.

Cappellino, who represents AGC Glass Europe, will continue to guide the organization as it navigates a challenging economic and competitive landscape. The industry is currently facing weakened demand across key markets, alongside increasing pressure from imported flat glass products, particularly from China, where aggressive pricing strategies are intensifying competition.

Commenting on his reappointment, Cappellino highlighted the importance of unity and proactive engagement within the sector. He emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to protect European manufacturing capabilities while maintaining the high standards of quality and innovation that define the region’s glass industry.

“Given the current complexities, it is essential that we act collectively to defend and promote European excellence in flat glass manufacturing,” he stated, underlining the strategic priorities for his new term.

Supporting him in this leadership role, Montserrat De La Fuente of Saint-Gobain Glass has been appointed as Vice-Chairwoman. Together, the leadership team is expected to focus on strengthening industry resilience, advocating for fair market conditions, and addressing regulatory and sustainability challenges.
