Pro-Sight Vision has completed the installation of its first online automatic sampling Dimensioning Gauging Machine (DGM-C) at a glass manufacturing facility in Germany, marking a step forward in real-time quality control for container production.
The DGM-C system is designed to measure critical body dimensions of round glass containers directly on the production line. Delivered and commissioned within a 10-week timeframe, the project reflects a growing industry focus on speed, automation, and data-driven process control.
Since entering operation in July 2025, the system has replaced traditional laboratory sampling and manual inspection methods with automated, in-line measurement. The machine inspects a full mould set of bottles every hour, with results transmitted instantly to the plant’s network, enabling engineers to monitor production performance in real time.
By integrating trend analysis, the system allows deviations to be identified early, helping operators correct issues before they lead to rejected or held ware. This approach supports improved efficiency, reduced waste, and more consistent product quality.
The DGM-C is equipped with ultra-high-definition imaging and Pro-Sight’s Intelligent Lightsource technology, designed to deliver consistent and repeatable measurements across varying glass colours and container sizes. It evaluates a range of parameters including diameter, ovality, verticality, height, and neck alignment with high precision.
The system also supports both cold-end auto-sampling and hot-end bottle testing, with the capability to return compliant containers directly to the production line, further minimising material loss.
In early 2026, the platform was enhanced through the integration of finish dimensioning software based on the company’s Universal Finish Inspector. This upgrade enables combined body and finish measurements, including thread profiling and detailed finish geometry analysis.
