Vidrala Announces €180 Million Investment to Modernise Castilla-La Mancha Facility

Vidrala has unveiled a €180 million-plus investment programme for its Caudete facility in Castilla-La Mancha, aimed at enhancing sustainability, energy efficiency, and industrial competitiveness. The plant is a major regional hub, operating two melting furnaces and eight production lines, with an annual capacity of roughly 315,000 tonnes of glass containers for the food and beverage sector. Around 300 employees currently work on-site, making it a key local employer.

The investment will be rolled out in phases. From June, refurbishment of the first furnace will begin, expected to increase output by 10%. Advanced moulding machinery will also be introduced, enabling lighter, more sustainable glass packaging that meets evolving environmental standards.

A second phase, contingent on market conditions and plant competitiveness, will include upgrading the second furnace, expanding the electrical infrastructure, and integrating on-site renewable energy solutions. These improvements aim to optimize energy consumption, reduce emissions, and position the Caudete plant as a benchmark for modern, sustainable glass manufacturing.

The facility plays a critical role in supporting the regional agri-food sector, particularly wine production, supplying packaging to multiple local and international producers. During a recent visit to the site, Emiliano García-Page emphasized the investment’s importance for regional industrial growth, employment, and long-term economic development.
