The countdown has begun for professionals, researchers, and academics working in the façade and building-envelope sector. The 2026 Façade Tectonics World Congress has officially opened its call for abstracts, with submissions due by February 1, 2026.
Organised by the Façade Tectonics Institute (FTI), the World Congress will take place from September 28 to October 2, 2026, hosted at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, USA. The event is widely recognised as one of the most important global platforms dedicated to façade design, technology, and performance.
FTI invites abstract submissions addressing a broad range of façade-related themes, including façade design and engineering, digital modelling, advanced systems, glass and glazing technologies, sustainability, resilience, material innovation, and future-oriented envelope solutions. This open thematic approach reflects the evolving role of façades as high-performance systems at the intersection of architecture, engineering, and environmental responsibility.
All abstracts will be evaluated by FTI’s Peer Review Committee to determine eligibility for full paper submission. Accepted papers will then undergo a two-stage blind peer-review process conducted by the Scientific, Technical and Artistic Review Committee, a panel of more than 100 international industry and academic experts. This rigorous process ensures a high scientific and technical standard across all presentations.
Abstracts must be 350 words or fewer, with the option to include one supporting image. At least one author of each accepted paper must attend the congress in person and register using the discounted author registration fee. An active FTI membership is required to submit.
All presentations will be delivered live and in person, reinforcing the congress’s role as a global meeting point for façade innovation, research exchange, and professional networking.
