Homerun Resources Signs LOI with SORG Group for Landmark Solar Glass Plant in Brazil

Homerun Resources has announced a major milestone with the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) with SORG Group for the development of a 1,000-tonnes-per-day solar glass manufacturing plant in Santa Maria Eterna, within the municipality of Belmonte, Bahia, Brazil.

Under the terms of the LOI, SORG Group is confirmed as the technology provider and supplier of the glass manufacturing and processing equipment for the Solar Glass Project. The facility is planned to operate with state-of-the-art Western glassmaking technology, incorporating an electric boosting system designed to improve energy efficiency and reduce the plant’s overall carbon footprint. The production process will also enable the manufacture of antimony-free solar glass, aligning with the latest sustainability and environmental standards in photovoltaic glass production.

Homerun will be responsible for the localised scope of the project, including permitting, civil works, utilities, electric power supply, and on-site installation works, in accordance with SORG’s technical specifications. The parties expect to move toward a binding formal contract following the successful completion of a Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS) and the securing of full project financing.

Financing discussions are progressing on multiple fronts. Homerun and SORG intend to cooperate in securing German export credit financing, supported by Euler Hermes guarantees, for the SORG technology and equipment package. In parallel, Brazil’s development bank, BNDES, has expressed interest in providing Brazilian government project financing for the local capital requirements.

To support the BFS, Homerun has engaged DTEC, a Germany-based engineering company, which will work in close coordination with SORG to deliver the technical and financial documentation required by lenders.

Commenting on the announcement, Homerun CEO Brian Leeners described the agreement as a significant milestone, highlighting the strong collaboration between the two teams and expressing confidence that the project will be delivered to the highest technological standards. Once completed, the facility is expected to become Latin America’s first dedicated solar glass manufacturing plant, marking a strategic step in strengthening the region’s renewable energy supply chain.
