HORN Bau & Service GmbH, a subsidiary of HORN Glass Industries AG, has successfully carried out a demanding 21-day hot repair on RITZENHOFF’s 80 t/d glass melting furnace in Marsberg. Known globally for premium drinking glasses and over 120 years of glassmaking craftsmanship, RITZENHOFF entrusted HORN with this critical intervention to secure uninterrupted production and maintain quality output.
The repair, conducted in September 2025, required complete draining of the furnace to access heavily stressed areas. Extensive work was carried out on the doghouse, throat, and distributor, with several operations running in parallel. To meet the tight schedule, the project was executed around the clock in continuous shifts, supported by precise coordination between all teams on site.

The throat and distributor were fully dismantled and rebuilt, while a second HORN team renewed the doghouse palisades, including corner sections, and reinforced additional critical zones. Continuous endoscopic inspections ensured ongoing quality evaluation and full technical oversight throughout the process.
Following a controlled heat-up by HORN, the furnace was successfully restarted within days, with the forehearth remaining hot at all times. HORN expressed appreciation to RITZENHOFF and all subcontractors for their cooperation and looks forward to further joint projects.
