One of the recurring challenges in contemporary façade engineering is how to integrate fire-rated zones without compromising architectural intent. Traditionally, fire-resistant windows required deeper, heavier frames, often disrupting otherwise clean and minimalist façades with a visible “patchwork” effect.
The Hansen Millennium® EI60 system is developed precisely to eliminate this conflict between safety and design. Tested for fire resistance from both the inside and the outside in accordance with EN 1364-1:2015, the system meets strict EI60 performance requirements while remaining visually indistinguishable from standard façade elements.
Because the EI60 solution is directly based on the standard Millennium system from Hansen, fire-rated and non-fire-rated zones share the same appearance. This allows architects and façade engineers to maintain a uniform building envelope, even where compartmentation and fire separation are required.
Currently approved for fixed window applications, the system retains the signature 28.5 mm (1 1/8”) ultra-slim profile, preserving the refined steel-look aesthetic across the façade. Fire-rated areas no longer stand out, they integrate seamlessly.
