SCHOTT North America, Inc. has introduced a new range of assembled protective windows produced بالكامل within the United States, further strengthening its position as a reliable supplier of high-precision optical solutions for defence programmes.
Recognised as the only large-scale optical glass producer in the Western Hemisphere, the company delivers a fully integrated production chain, from raw material processing to finished optical assemblies, aligned with U.S. military requirements.
All key manufacturing stages, including glass melting, precision finishing, coating, and mechanical assembly, are carried out domestically. This integrated approach reduces reliance on complex, multi-supplier networks and enhances supply chain security for critical components. Advanced robotic bonding processes and high-accuracy framing technologies allow SCHOTT to produce large-format optical elements with consistent quality and performance.
Developed for use in external sensor systems, these protective windows are engineered to match specific customer designs. They play a crucial role in safeguarding sensitive optical and electro-optical equipment from environmental factors such as dust, sand, moisture, debris, and mechanical impact, while maintaining high optical clarity in demanding conditions.
The products are equipped with durable anti-reflective coatings that improve resistance to scratching and ensure stable spectral performance, even after exposure to harsh conditions like abrasion, salt fog, and humidity. Each unit is subjected to strict pressure and quality testing in line with military standards to guarantee dependable operation in the field.
Thanks to its streamlined production process, SCHOTT supports efficient progression from prototype development to large-scale manufacturing. Typical applications include periscopes, targeting systems, and advanced electro-optical sensors used in defence systems.
The company will present these solutions at SPIE Defense + Security 2026, scheduled for April 28–30, 2026, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. In addition, SCHOTT will host a webinar on May 19, 2026, to provide further insights into its integrated manufacturing and coating technologies.
