Sliding and folding door hardware manufacturer P C Henderson has relaunched its Pocket Door Pro Fire Rated system, expanding its certified specification to meet the growing demand for space-saving door solutions that comply with increasingly stringent fire safety regulations.
The enhanced system is certified to BS EN 1634-1, achieving E30 classification, and provides 30 minutes of fire resistance when installed with an FD30-rated door as part of a compliant fire door assembly. The certification now extends to include newly approved self-closing and soft-close functionality, strengthening its suitability for regulated residential and commercial environments.
Technically, the system is designed to accommodate doors up to 120kg, with maximum door dimensions of 2315mm x 930mm. It supports finished wall thicknesses of 145mm or 150mm following double boarding. The certified configuration incorporates both the sliding hardware and a timber liner kit fitted with intumescent strips, helping to restrict the spread of fire for up to 30 minutes.
The addition of a certified self-close mechanism ensures the door reliably returns to the closed position, a key requirement in many fire-rated applications. Meanwhile, the soft-close feature enhances user comfort and durability by preventing impact damage. A range of fire-tested flush pulls, including round and square options with a door edge pull, was also used during certification testing.
According to Dave Newton, Sales & Commercial Director at P C Henderson, demand for fire-rated sliding systems has increased significantly across apartments, hotels, offices and healthcare projects. By integrating certified fire performance with improved operational efficiency, the redesigned Pocket Door Pro Fire Rated system strengthens the company’s offering in high-performance architectural hardware solutions.
