For decades, National Glass has established itself as a trusted supplier of high-quality processed glass, supporting both its parent company and a broad network of commercial customers. While the business primarily serves internal partners, it also delivers complex, tailor-made glazing solutions for the wider market, including decorative insulated glass units, custom laminated glass, and other specialist products. Fast turnaround times, technical expertise, and the ability to manufacture bespoke solutions continue to define the company’s approach.

Alongside its focus on growth in processed glass, insulating glass, and advanced laminates, National Glass has also placed sustainability at the centre of its operations. The company continues to invest in initiatives that reduce energy consumption, increase recycling rates, and expand the use of solar energy across its facilities.

A Partnership Built Over Decades

National Glass’s collaboration with LiSEC began many years ago and has grown into one of the company’s most important strategic relationships. Some of the earliest LiSEC installations – including cutting tables, cranes, and processing equipment – remained operational for more than two decades, demonstrating the durability and reliability of the technology.

As production requirements evolved, National Glass continued to expand its investment in LiSEC solutions. Today, approximately 90% of the machinery throughout the factory comes from LiSEC, reflecting the confidence the company has developed in both the equipment and the long-term support behind it.

The relationship extends well beyond machinery purchases. National Glass works closely with LiSEC on safety improvements, software updates, technical advice, equipment upgrades, and future investment planning. Having access to a broad portfolio of technologies through a single supplier has simplified operations while providing consistent technical expertise and responsive customer support.

Integrated Automation Across the Production Process

A major advantage of the partnership has been the implementation of LiSEC’s all.in.one, which connect every stage of production into a single digital workflow.

From order processing through to dispatch, LiSEC equipment manages cutting, edge deletion, seaming, laminating, and insulating glass production while integrating seamlessly with software platforms such as GPS.prod, GPS.autofab, and ident. This end-to-end connectivity provides complete production visibility, improves scheduling, and enables efficient handling of everything from large architectural glass panels to highly customized orders.

Greater automation has also significantly reduced manual handling, helping National Glass increase productivity without proportionally expanding its workforce. In a challenging labour market, this has allowed the company to maintain high output while reducing product damage and improving overall operational efficiency.

Reliable Equipment and Continuous Support

Reliability remains one of the defining reasons National Glass continues to invest in LiSEC technology. One example is a LiSEC ESL cutting table installed around 2000 that operated successfully for almost 20 years before being replaced.

The company also values LiSEC’s global service network. Despite operating in Australia, National Glass benefits from around-the-clock technical assistance, including rapid remote diagnostics and support that help minimise downtime whenever issues arise.

Extending Equipment Life Through LONGLiFE

Rather than replacing entire production lines, National Glass has taken advantage of LiSEC’s LONGLiFE upgrade program to modernise existing equipment.

In 2023, the company upgraded approximately 30 production computers to current Windows-compatible systems to strengthen IT security and ensure long-term software support. Working closely with National Glass’s IT department, LiSEC completed the project with minimal disruption to manufacturing.

The LONGLiFE approach allows equipment to remain productive through targeted hardware and software upgrades instead of full machine replacement. Compared with the lengthy downtime associated with installing new machinery, many upgrades can be completed overnight, reducing both costs and production interruptions.

Investing in Skills for Future Growth

National Glass has complemented its technology investments by participating in LiSEC’s training programmes, including specialist courses at the company’s headquarters in Austria. These initiatives have helped employees develop the knowledge required to operate and maintain increasingly sophisticated automated systems while encouraging the transfer of expertise throughout the organisation.
