The Josko-Scheuringer Group, a leading Austrian manufacturer of premium windows and doors, announced the acquisition of Glastech, a renowned insulating glass producer based near Amstetten, Austria.
Effective October 1st, 2024, Glastech will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Josko, joining its sister companies Josko Fenster & Türen and Eurosun Sonnenschutz. This strategic move marks a significant expansion for the Josko-Scheuringer Group, enhancing its vertical integration and reinforcing its commitment to high-quality product development.
A Vertical Integration Strategy for Enhanced Quality Control
The acquisition of Glastech represents a key step in Josko’s strategy to control a greater portion of its value chain. Insulating glass is a crucial component in window manufacturing, directly impacting the overall quality and performance of the final product. By bringing this critical process in-house, Josko gains greater control over quality, lead times, and innovation. As CEO and majority owner Johann Scheuringer explains, “We attach great importance to producing everything essential that determines the design and quality of our products ourselves. Bringing more insulating glass production under our own control is a logical and vital step for us.”
LiSEC Focuses on Core Business
Glastech was previously a subsidiary of LiSEC, a global leader in machinery and software solutions for flat glass processing. LiSEC’s decision to divest Glastech aligns with its strategy to concentrate resources on its core business of developing and supplying advanced machinery and software to the glass processing industry. Gottfried Brunbauer, CEO of the LiSEC Group, stated that “LiSEC is delighted to have found an ideal partner in Josko that can exploit the potential of Glastech in the future and further develop the company in a purposeful way.” This divestiture allows LiSEC to focus on its ongoing expansion, innovation, and development of smart, digital solutions for its global clientele.
Glastech’s Future Under Josko-Scheuringer
While becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary of Josko, Glastech will maintain its operational independence and continue to serve its existing customer base. The entire Glastech site and workforce will be integrated into the Josko-Scheuringer Group. Gerhard Kasbauer, COO of the Josko-Scheuringer Group, will oversee Glastech’s management, adding to his responsibilities for Josko and Eurosun. This acquisition positions the Josko-Scheuringer Group for continued growth and strengthens its leading position within the premium window and door market. The transaction was facilitated by Thomas Litzlbauer, the former CFO of the Josko-Scheuringer Group.
This strategic acquisition signifies a significant investment in the future of the Josko-Scheuringer Group, emphasizing its commitment to both vertical integration and the provision of superior products to its customers.
