The Agricultural Research and Development Center of the Royal Project Foundation in Chiang Mai is a new project that aims to expand and develop all the products under the Royal Project Foundation brand. Assistant Professor Dr. Rattaphol Angkasit, a professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Chiang Mai University, designed and oversaw the architecture of the center, incorporating the Lanna style to showcase the vernacular architectural characteristics.
The buildings feature a northern style Punya roof that enhances rainwater drainage and hides the air conditioning system, while also bringing the Lanna flare to the design. The interior layout plan is designed with a focus on functionality and interior ventilation, providing users with the option to keep the space naturally ventilated or air-conditioned.
The center is part of a larger sustainable development initiative, with the use of renewable energy systems, both solar and hydro, in other facilities located within the area. The integration of different bodies of knowledge creates a holistic development that can be further expanded into new lessons and knowledge in the future.
The glass used in the project is SunGuard Solar N67, processed by TYK Glassform and installed by Darm Hassadin Co., Ltd. The center’s design, combined with the use of high-quality glass, creates a visually stunning and functional space that enhances interior ventilation and contributes to sustainable development.
