The latest sales data from Morley Glass, the UK’s premier ScreenLine® integral blind manufacturer, reveals anthracite as the favored choice for Venetian blinds in 2023

In a surprising turn of events for the integral blind market, anthracite has emerged as the top customer color choice for Venetian blinds in 2023, according to Morley Glass, the UK’s leading manufacturer of bespoke ScreenLine® integral blinds. Anthracite secured 34.5% of all sales of Venetian Uni-Blinds®, narrowly surpassing the perennially popular white, which claimed 32.4%. The data suggests a potential shift in consumer preferences, with black making a noteworthy entrance into the scene.

While black has been a staple for pleated Uni-Blinds®, 2023 marked the introduction of a new black (B160) Venetian blind to the ScreenLine® range. Impressively, within the first 12 months of manufacturing, black Venetian units have already captured nearly 6% of all sales. Grey and silver continue to hold their ground, with standard silver (S157) securing the third spot, constituting nearly 10% of Venetian integral blind sales. Light grey (S155) shows comparable popularity to black.

Ian Short, MD of Morley Glass, commented on the evolving trends, stating, “White and anthracite windows and doors continue to dominate the market, but homeowner tastes are evolving. The surge in black Venetian Uni-Blinds® sales highlights the positive response to contemporary color choices. Black fixtures and fittings, a prevailing trend in interior décor, now extend to integral blinds, adding a touch of sophistication to homes.”
