Sheerline and Garnalex have successfully achieved Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in accordance with EN 15804:2012+A2:2019, reinforcing their commitment to sustainability, transparency, and responsible manufacturing. The declarations have been independently assessed and verified by the Building Research Establishment (BRE), providing customers and specifiers with trusted environmental data on the products and manufacturing processes.
The publication of the EPDs comes at a significant time for the UK construction sector, as the industry prepares for the implementation of the Future Homes Standard (FHS) and continues progressing toward national Net Zero targets. EPDs are increasingly becoming a key requirement for architects, developers, contractors, and procurement teams seeking verified sustainability credentials for projects and competitive tenders.
Both declarations have been developed as Cradle-to-Gate assessments with modules C and D included, offering a comprehensive view of environmental impacts throughout the product lifecycle. The Garnalex EPD is based on 1 kg of trade aluminium extrusions, while the Sheerline EPD covers 1 kg of profile material used across its complete range of window, door, and roof systems.
A major contributor to the low Global Warming Potential (GWP) values reported in the EPDs is the company’s vertically integrated manufacturing model. All operations are completed in-house at a single UK production facility, providing full control over manufacturing processes while reducing transportation-related emissions. In addition, the aluminium used in production is sourced within the UK, further lowering the overall carbon footprint.
Martin Froggatt, Head of Compliance at Sheerline, stated that the EPDs provide customers with the detailed environmental information needed to support project specifications, demonstrate sustainable practices, and secure new business opportunities.
