The inaugural NGA Glass Fabricator Conference (GFAB™), held June 14–17, 2026, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Chicago, successfully brought together glass fabricator executives, technical leaders and production professionals for four days of industry-focused education, networking and strategic discussion.
Organized by the National Glass Association (NGA), the new event combined elements of the NGA Glass Conference™ and Glass Processing Automation Days (GPAD™), while introducing dedicated workshop sessions designed specifically for fabrication plant personnel.

A major theme throughout the conference was the importance of strengthening collaboration between architects, designers and glass fabricators. During discussions on glass applications in interior environments, industry leaders highlighted the growing demand for daylighting, biophilic design and high-performance glazing solutions. Speakers also emphasized the need for greater glass education within architecture and design programs to help future professionals better understand the capabilities of modern glazing systems.
Economic conditions and market trends were also examined. AIA Chief Economist Richard Branch described the current construction market as “surviving, not thriving,” while identifying renovation, retrofit and rehabilitation projects as key opportunities for continued growth. Rising demand for data centers and increasing project inquiries were also cited as positive indicators for the industry.

Technology and automation featured prominently in the conference program. AI strategist Elton Boocock encouraged companies to adopt practical artificial intelligence initiatives through focused pilot projects, clear internal policies and strong cybersecurity practices. Industry experts further explored how automation, robotics and data-driven manufacturing are improving productivity, quality control and operational efficiency across fabrication facilities.
