Şişecam participated as a sponsor of the 4th São Carlos School on Glasses and Glass-Ceramics 2026, one of the leading academic events dedicated to glass science and technology. Held in Brazil, the event brought together graduate students, researchers, academics, and industry professionals from around the world, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration in the field of advanced glass materials.

The program featured a comprehensive agenda covering the structure and properties of glasses and glass-ceramics, as well as key processes including diffusion, viscous flow, relaxation, liquid-liquid phase separation, and crystallization. Participants also explored the optical, electrical, mechanical, and biochemical characteristics of glass materials through a combination of theoretical and practical sessions.

As part of its contribution to the event, Şişecam shared insights into the latest developments in glass fiber technologies and high-performance glass systems. Representing the company, Dr. Gülin Demirok, Glass Fiber Product Development Specialist and Project Manager of the Efficiency Management Program, delivered a presentation outlining Şişecam’s innovation journey in advanced glass fiber production.

The presentation highlighted the company’s evolution from standard E-glass fiber manufacturing to the development of high-modulus (HM), ultra-high-modulus (UHM), and S-glass fiber technologies. Particular attention was given to experimental glass compositions and production approaches designed to achieve enhanced mechanical performance, higher specific strength, and improved suitability for demanding engineering applications.
