The expansion of Marseille Provence Airport marks a significant milestone in contemporary airport design, combining architectural excellence with passenger-focused functionality. Designed by Foster + Partners, the project introduces a striking new extension centered around a spectacular 22-meter-high glazed hall that seamlessly connects the airport’s historic terminals.

Serving as the architectural heart of the development, the expansive glass-enclosed space creates a bright and welcoming environment for travelers. The fully glazed façade maximizes daylight penetration throughout the terminal, reducing reliance on artificial lighting while offering panoramic views of the surrounding Provençal landscape. This transparent design approach enhances the passenger experience by creating a strong visual connection between the interior spaces and the natural environment beyond.

A key element of the project is the integration of advanced solar control glazing technology. The façade incorporates Stopray extra-clear solar control glass, which helps maintain a comfortable indoor climate by limiting excessive solar heat gain while allowing abundant natural light to enter the building. This balance of energy efficiency and visual comfort supports the airport’s sustainability objectives and contributes to improved environmental performance.
