Big 5 Construct South Africa 2026 has officially opened at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg, bringing together more than 400 exhibitors from over 25 countries and an expected 12,000 visitors from across the construction, infrastructure, and transport sectors. The three-day event is co-located with the second edition of the South Africa Infrastructure Expo and Transport Evolution Africa, creating a comprehensive platform for industry engagement and business development.
The opening ceremony was led by Deputy Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure Sihle Zikalala, who emphasized the importance of infrastructure investment in driving economic growth and job creation. He noted that the event provides a valuable opportunity to showcase South Africa’s infrastructure pipeline, connect investors with projects, and introduce innovative technologies that can improve project delivery.

International participation remains a key feature of the exhibition, with dedicated country pavilions from China, Italy, Malaysia, Pakistan, and the UAE. Major exhibiting nations also include Canada, Germany, India, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom. Industry leaders such as Grundfos, Maurer Africa, Stanley Black & Decker, John Deere, Top-Werk, Bosch, and Amatola Water Board are presenting solutions ranging from construction equipment and water infrastructure to transport management technologies.
Alongside the exhibition, the South Africa Infrastructure Summit is addressing infrastructure financing, private-sector participation, and project implementation. Meanwhile, more than 20 CPD-certified Big 5 Talks sessions are exploring topics such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), artificial intelligence in construction, regulatory compliance, and smart monitoring systems for critical infrastructure assets.
