The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is hosting its flagship event, the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design 2026 (AIA26), from June 10–13 at the San Diego Convention Center. The conference is expected to attract more than 5,000 architects, designers, engineers, and construction professionals from across the globe, making it one of the most significant gatherings in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) sector.
AIA26 will focus on the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of the built environment. Key themes include net-zero energy design, adaptive reuse strategies for urban revitalisation, artificial intelligence in architectural practice, and the development of healthier, community-focused buildings.
One of the event’s major attractions is the AIA26 Expo, taking place on June 11–12, where more than 600 exhibitors will showcase the latest building materials, technologies, and product innovations. The expo will also feature networking activities and attendee experiences designed to encourage industry engagement.
The conference programme includes over 350 expert-led educational sessions, enabling participants to earn continuing education credits while exploring emerging trends and best practices. Attendees will also have access to more than 80 architect-led tours of San Diego’s landmark buildings and innovative projects, offering first-hand insight into contemporary architectural design and urban development.
