Swisspacer Brings High-Performance Glazing to Austria’s “Kaiserjuwel” All-Suite Hotel

The new “Kaiserjuwel” all-suite hotel in Going, Tyrol, Austria, combines alpine architecture, expansive glazing and high energy-efficiency standards in a project designed to maximize transparency and comfort. Developed as an extension of the Seiwald resort ensemble, the building includes 22 suites, two penthouse suites and a sky wellness area with an infinity sky pool overlooking the surrounding mountain landscape.

South Tyrolean glazing specialist Vitralux was responsible for the exterior glazing works, delivering a façade concept focused on openness, minimalism and seamless indoor-outdoor transitions. The company installed approximately 270 square metres of frameless glazing, 150 square metres of window and door systems, three entrance doors and two automatic sliding doors throughout the property.

Central to the architectural concept is Vitralux’s in-house VITRALIGHT system, which features slim aluminium profiles, frameless fixed glazing and flush threshold balcony doors. The system creates uninterrupted panoramic views while maintaining a clean and understated appearance. In the suites, large glazed openings connect interior spaces directly with the Alpine surroundings, reinforcing the hotel’s emphasis on tranquillity and natural light.

The same design approach continues in the wellness area, where expansive glazed surfaces define the relaxation room and terrace connection. Heat-resistant glazing solutions were also integrated into the sauna area to ensure durability and comfort under demanding temperature conditions.

Energy performance played a key role in the project. Triple safety insulating glass with a Ug-value of 0.6 W/m²K was installed, while the complete VITRALIGHT system achieves Uw-values below 0.8 W/m²K. Swisspacer Ultimate warm edge spacer bars further enhance thermal efficiency by reducing heat loss at the glazing edge and minimizing condensation, particularly important in high-humidity wellness environments.

Sustainability was also a major consideration throughout the project. According to Vitralux, all aluminium profiles used contain at least 75 percent recycled aluminium, supporting lower CO2 emissions while maintaining high structural and thermal performance.
