Şişecam Completes New Coated Glass Line Investment in Northern Italy

Şişecam has commissioned a new coated glass production line at its San Giorgio di Nogaro plant in Northern Italy, marking another important step in its European growth strategy. The investment, valued at €25 million, significantly increases the company’s coated glass capacity in Italy from 6 million square metres to 12.5 million square metres per year.

The new production line was developed to meet rising demand for coated architectural glass, particularly driven by energy-efficient building design and stricter sustainability requirements across Europe. Coated glass plays a key role in modern façades by improving thermal insulation, solar control and overall building performance, making it essential for both new construction and renovation projects.

Şişecam CEO Can Yücel highlighted that the investment will strengthen the company’s ability to deliver high-value products to customers in Western Europe while expanding its architectural glass portfolio. By increasing coated glass production in both Eastern and Western Europe, the company aims to improve service flexibility and respond more effectively to regional market demand.

This investment is part of a broader expansion programme. Earlier this year, Şişecam completed another coated glass line at its flat glass facility in Bulgaria, adding an annual capacity of 6 million square metres. A further coated glass line is planned for commissioning in Tarsus later this year, with an additional annual capacity of 7 million square metres. Once operational, Şişecam will operate seven coated glass lines globally, reaching a total production capacity of 48.1 million square metres.

With these investments, Şişecam continues to reinforce its position as a key supplier in the architectural glass sector, focusing on innovation, energy efficiency, and advanced value-added glass solutions for the European market.
