SCM has officially reopened the doors of its Technology Center in Rimini, marking the occasion with a highly successful Open House event that drew strong international participation despite ongoing geopolitical and macroeconomic challenges.
Held from 12 to 14 March at the Group’s headquarters, the event welcomed more than 3,000 visitors from 60 countries, highlighting widespread global interest in SCM’s latest innovations for the woodworking sector. Over 1,000 companies attended, with particularly strong representation from Italy, Poland, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom. The event also saw significant engagement from SCM’s global dealer network, with more than 300 dealers present.

During the Open House, SCM introduced a forward-looking vision for the future of woodworking manufacturing. The company presented a new factory model where competitive advantage is no longer defined solely by machinery or production plants, but by a fully integrated ecosystem of technologies, services and software solutions. This approach is designed to enable more connected, flexible and sustainable production processes.
A key element of this strategy is SCM’s increasingly proactive after-sales service. Leveraging advanced AI tools, the company is able to collect and analyse data from over 5,000 connected machines worldwide, transforming this information into enhanced, value-driven services for customers.

SCM also showcased progress in integrated and automated engineering solutions, supported in part by the addition of Tecno Logica systems to its portfolio. Innovation remained at the forefront throughout the event, with the unveiling of 15 new technological solutions spanning multiple applications.
These included panel sizing, CNC machining centres for furniture production, solid wood processing, timber construction, window and door manufacturing lines, finishing systems for extra-matt effects, throughfeed moulding, double-end tenoning, and advanced band saws for joinery.

Commenting on the success of the event, Pietro Gheller, Director of SCM Wood Division, said the Open House provided a valuable platform to share a new phase of development for the industry. He emphasized that the strong international turnout underlines the importance of embracing innovation and new business approaches to remain competitive in today’s market.
