Roberto Cabrera Named Phoenix Award Glass Person of the Year

Roberto Cabrera, Vice President of Engineering and Technology at Vitro Architectural Glass, has been named the latest recipient of the prestigious Phoenix Award, earning the title of Glass Person of the Year. Cabrera becomes the 54th individual to receive this distinguished recognition, which honors a living industry professional for significant and lasting contributions to the glass sector.

The Phoenix Award Committee, composed of representatives from supplier companies serving the glass industry, selects the recipient annually based on leadership, innovation and long-term impact. Cabrera was recognized for his exceptional achievements in manufacturing quality, engineering innovation and sustainability across the flat glass industry.

With a career spanning nearly four decades at Vitro, Cabrera has played a pivotal role in advancing modern flat glass manufacturing. His contributions include being an inventor or co-inventor of 12 granted U.S. patents, covering innovations in product development, production processes and equipment design. These advancements have strengthened Vitro’s position as a technology leader within the architectural glass sector.

Cabrera’s impact extends beyond technical innovation. Since 2021, he has served on the board of the Glass Manufacturing Industry Council, helping guide collaboration and progress across the industry. His leadership is widely recognized for fostering knowledge sharing, encouraging best practices and supporting sustainability initiatives.
