Rio Tinto and RevoCast have entered into a long-term partnership to expand the supply of low-carbon aluminium billet to manufacturers across North America. Under the agreement, Rio Tinto will exclusively market billet produced at RevoCast’s newly commissioned casting facility in Langley, British Columbia, Canada.
The partnership combines Rio Tinto’s low-carbon primary aluminium production in British Columbia with RevoCast’s recycled aluminium processing and casting capabilities. The resulting billet is intended to provide manufacturers with a reliable regional supply of aluminium for extrusion applications.
Commissioned in August 2026, RevoCast’s Langley facility has an annual production capacity of more than 80,000 tonnes of 6xxx-series aluminium billet. The material will serve extrusion markets including construction, transportation, industrial products and consumer goods.
According to Rio Tinto, the partnership is designed to bring aluminium production closer to North American customers while increasing the use of recycled material in the supply chain. Matt Schicke, Rio Tinto’s Vice President of Aluminium Sales and Marketing, said the combination of the two companies’ capabilities will provide manufacturers with high-quality billet produced closer to their operations.
