Pochet Group Secures Green Future with ABO Wind: Inks 20-Year Power Purchase Agreement for Flagship French Solar Plant

Pochet Group, a key player in the luxury packaging industry, joins forces with ABO Wind in a landmark 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) for their upcoming flagship photovoltaic (PV) plant in France.

Pochet Group, a prominent name in the luxury packaging industry, is taking a substantial leap towards a sustainable future by entering a strategic partnership with ABO Wind, a leading German energy company. The collaboration is marked by the signing of a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) in conjunction with the commissioning of Pochet Group’s largest photovoltaic (PV) plant in France.

This forward-looking agreement serves a dual purpose for Pochet Group. Firstly, it is a crucial step towards minimizing the environmental footprint by procuring green energy, aligning with the company’s commitment to reducing its impact on the planet. Secondly, the CPPA ensures a stable electricity purchase price for the next two decades, providing long-term financial security.

The anticipated commissioning of the PV plant is scheduled for 2025, boasting an impressive installed capacity of approximately 20 MWp. This solar facility will play a pivotal role in supporting Pochet Group’s ambitious project – the construction of the first French electric furnace for luxury bottles at its Guimerville site. Operational by the end of 2024, the electric furnace will be powered in part by green energy generated from the forthcoming PV power plant.

Benoit Marszalek, Director Pochet du Courval Operations, expressed the significance of this milestone, stating, “In pursuit of our decarbonisation plan and our goal of reducing our CO2 emissions by 50% by 2033, this long-term power purchase agreement will enable us to produce sustainably for luxury differently. To ensure energy sovereignty in France, accelerating the deployment of renewable energy production plants is essential. This plant will therefore complement the installed photovoltaic capacity.”

The Pochet Group envisions additional projects akin to this initiative emerging in the coming months, reinforcing their commitment to sustainable energy practices and environmental responsibility.
