Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope (OBE) has expanded its curtain wall portfolio with the introduction of the Reliance-TC SS (Thermal Control Screw Spline), a new high-performance curtain wall system engineered to meet increasingly stringent energy-efficiency requirements while maintaining fabrication simplicity and design flexibility.

Developed from OBE’s established Reliance platform, the Reliance-TC SS is specifically designed for projects in IECC Climate Zones 4 through 8, as well as jurisdictions adopting advanced stretch energy codes. The system delivers U-factors as low as 0.19 when paired with 1-inch thin triple insulating glass units (IGUs), enabling architects and specifiers to achieve demanding thermal targets without increasing the overall curtain wall depth.

A key advantage of the system is its screw-spline construction, which supports familiar fabrication and installation practices while reducing complexity for glazing contractors. The curtain wall accommodates both standard 1-inch insulating glass and high-performance thin triple IGUs, allowing project teams to scale thermal performance within the same framing platform.

Reliance-TC SS is available in 6-inch and 7¼-inch system depths and features a narrow 2½-inch sightline. Thermal performance is achieved through the use of 27 mm and 30 mm thermal struts combined with an EPDM isolator. The system also offers polyamide and aluminium pressure plate options, inside- and outside-glazed configurations, and multiple glazing methods including dry, zone and field glazing.

Additional features include twin-span construction with splice sleeves, low-profile corner mullions and support for Red List Free project goals. By combining advanced thermal technology with efficient fabrication methods, Reliance-TC SS provides a practical solution for high-performance building envelopes in today’s evolving construction market.
