Aluprof has obtained new Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for its window, door and façade systems, confirming the environmental performance of its aluminium solutions through independently verified data.
The declarations were developed by the Building Research Institute (ITB) in Warsaw and independently verified by a third-party verifier. They confirm a carbon footprint of 2.98 kg CO₂e/kg for assembled profiles used in window and door systems, and 3.00 kg CO₂e/kg for assembled profiles used in curtain wall systems.
Low-Carbon Aluminium Across the Value Chain
The results reflect the use of low-carbon aluminium profiles supplied by Grupa Kęty, alongside continuous improvements across the manufacturing process. The profiles contain more than 75% recycled aluminium while maintaining a reduced carbon footprint.
In its latest Environmental Product Declaration, Grupa Kęty reported a carbon footprint of 2.31 kg CO₂e/kg for its aluminium profiles, further demonstrating the impact of material selection on the environmental performance of finished building systems.
An important part of the cooperation between Grupa Kęty and Aluprof is their integrated approach to aluminium circularity. Recovering and reusing aluminium within the Group increases the proportion of secondary raw materials, reduces dependence on primary aluminium and helps minimise the environmental impact of production.
This approach supports the industry’s transition from the traditional linear production model towards a circular economy, in which materials remain in use for longer and can be repeatedly recycled into new resources.
Verified Environmental Data for Sustainable Construction
Beyond documenting environmental performance, EPDs provide independently verified information that helps manufacturers, architects, specifiers and construction professionals assess the environmental impact of building products.
The declarations can support environmental assessments and certification processes for buildings under internationally recognised schemes, including BREEAM, LEED and DGNB. They also provide customers and partners with transparent data to support increasingly demanding sustainability requirements.
A Step Towards Lower-Carbon Aluminium Systems
Aluprof’s new EPDs represent another step in its efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of its products, increase the use of recycled materials and develop solutions that contribute to more sustainable construction.
The results also highlight the importance of considering the entire aluminium value chain. Environmental performance is shaped long before a finished window, door or façade system reaches a construction site. It begins with raw material sourcing and continues through manufacturing, processing, recovery and reuse.
The title pages of the EPD documents are available on the Aluprof website, under the Downloads section. Full declarations are accessible through the company’s authorised zone. The Grupa Kęty EPD provides further information on the environmental performance of its aluminium profiles.
