Press Glass, a leading flat glass supplier, celebrates three decades of collaboration with LiSEC, culminating in the fully automated Press Glass Nowogard facility. Discover how this partnership has propelled efficiency and innovation in glass processing.
Press Glass, a prominent name in the world of flat glass manufacturing, has undergone a transformative journey over the last 30 years, evolving from a single facility into a global force with 15 international locations. The company’s commitment to quality interior and exterior glass for both commercial and residential markets has made it a key player in the industry, with an impressive 80% export rate to regions such as Scandinavia, the Baltics, Central and Southern Europe, the UK, and North America.
Despite its significant growth, Press Glass maintains a nimble, privately-owned status, allowing for swift adaptation to market changes. Jakub Krakowski, Technology Development Director at Press Glass, emphasizes the company’s openness to market testing and competitiveness. This adaptability is facilitated by a longstanding partnership with LiSEC, spanning three decades and marked by a commitment to high-end technology.
The latest milestone in this partnership is the fully automated Press Glass Nowogard facility, strategically located in northwestern Poland. Boasting six cutting lines, including a fully automatic laminated glass cutting line, the facility is a testament to Press Glass’s dedication to innovation. The collaboration with LiSEC ensured a seamless integration of cutting-edge technology, making the Nowogard plant a model for future expansions.
The heart of the Nowogard production lies in its high-performing logistics system. A gantry system feeds six cutting lines, while two large buffer systems optimize material flow and machine utilization. Intralogistics plays a crucial role in maintaining process stability and reliable supply during various processing steps, contributing to the facility’s efficiency.
Looking back on the challenges faced during the project, Krakowski reflects on the demanding schedule and the need for fine-tuning amidst high customer demand. Despite the initial hurdles, the Nowogard facility stands as Press Glass’s most efficient, producing more glass with fewer operators and experiencing minimal losses.
With the Nowogard site successfully operational, Press Glass and LiSEC are already setting their sights on future projects. The development of a facility in the UK, consolidating three locations under one roof, is underway. Krakowski notes the balance between market pressures and the opportunity for development in the current landscape.
Reflecting on his 12 years at Press Glass, Krakowski praises LiSEC for delivering complete and robust solutions that operate 24/7. He emphasizes the importance of a reliable partner when challenges arise, highlighting LiSEC’s role as a trusted support.
As the industry evolves, Krakowski envisions the rise of automation and sustainability. The Nowogard facility serves as a pioneering example of Industry 4.0, incorporating automation into all projects for enhanced quality and efficiency. Additionally, the growing demand for detailed information on production processes aligns with Press Glass’s commitment to certifications and renewable energy investments.
