Kawneer Launches Enhanced 2500 UT PLUS Curtain Wall System for Higher Thermal Performance

Kawneer has expanded its high-performance façade portfolio with the introduction of the enhanced 2500 UT PLUS option for its 2500 UT Unitwall System. Developed for mid- to high-rise commercial buildings, the new system delivers the company’s strongest thermal performance in a unitized curtain wall solution to date, addressing the growing demand for energy-efficient building envelopes across North America.

The 2500 UT PLUS option achieves an overall system U-factor as low as 0.25, combined with a 0.20 center-of-glass value using a 1-inch insulating glass unit. This level of thermal performance is designed to help architects and developers meet increasingly stringent energy codes in leading markets such as Boston and Seattle, while maintaining the installation efficiencies associated with unitized curtain wall systems.

In addition to improved thermal capabilities, the system preserves the key advantages of the original 2500 UT Unitwall System, including shop assembly for faster installation, enhanced quality control, and reduced onsite labor requirements. The solution also offers flexibility through double or triple glazing configurations, as well as captured or structural silicone glazing options.

According to Kimberly Ferro, commercial vice president at Kawneer, the new PLUS option provides architects and contractors with a familiar and reliable platform that supports the transition toward higher energy performance standards without compromising efficiency or constructability.
