The future of the building envelope, aluminium systems and architectural construction will be in focus when GlassBalkan visits the 17th Alumini Conference – “Aluminium & Architecture”, taking place from 30 October to 1 November 2026 in Katerini, Greece.
Held at Mediterranean Village Hotel & Spa, the conference brings together aluminium manufacturers, fabricators, architects, engineers, construction companies and suppliers for three days of technical discussions, business networking and architectural project presentations. This year’s theme, “The Building Envelope of 2050,” examines how changing architectural requirements, technology and market developments will influence the next generation of buildings.
The programme will address artificial intelligence, robotics and engineering, alongside developments in the aluminium industry and the challenges facing manufacturers over the coming decades. Topics include emerging market opportunities, changing production requirements and the role of collaboration between architects and aluminium fabricators.
These discussions are also relevant to the glass industry. Larger openings, energy-efficient buildings and increasingly complex façade designs are creating new demands for glazing, aluminium systems and the coordination of different building-envelope components.
The conference will run alongside the fourth Aluminium & Architecture Exhibition and Awards, organised in cooperation with the Hellenic Institute of Architecture. The awards recognise architectural projects that demonstrate quality in the design and construction of aluminium applications.
The sponsor exhibition brings together companies representing different parts of the aluminium, glass and construction supply chain.
Among the notable participants are Elval Colour, platinum sponsor of the exhibition and awards, and ETEM and ELVIAL, the gold sponsors. Other companies listed among the event’s sponsors include EXALCO, NEOKEM, Guardian Glass, Saint-Gobain, Polflam, VASGLASS, IALONET and YALODOMI. Their presence reflects the range of materials, systems and technologies represented at the event.
For GlassBalkan, the visit is an opportunity to strengthen connections with industry professionals in Greece and follow developments relevant to the glass, aluminium, façade and fenestration sectors across Southeast Europe.
