Epwin Window Systems Achieves ISO 50001:2018 Certification

Epwin Window Systems has achieved ISO 50001:2018 certification, reinforcing its long-term commitment to structured energy management and measurable environmental performance across its UK operations.

ISO 50001:2018 is an internationally recognised standard that establishes a formal energy management system (EnMS), enabling organisations to systematically monitor, manage and improve energy performance. The certification requires clear energy policies, defined performance indicators, data-driven monitoring, and continuous improvement processes covering energy consumption, efficiency and reduction targets.

According to Tom Langford, QHSE Manager at Epwin Window Systems, the certification reflects the company’s determination to continually enhance how energy is managed throughout the business and reduce environmental impact in a measurable way.

The ISO 50001 accreditation complements a comprehensive portfolio of environmental certifications already held by the company:

  • ISO 14001 – Environmental Management Systems
  • BES 6001: Issue 3.0 – Responsible sourcing of constituent materials
  • ISO 14064-1:2018 – Verified greenhouse gas emissions measurement and reporting
  • VinylPlus Product Label – Recognition for sustainable PVC-U systems

Epwin Window Systems was notably the first UK systems company to achieve the VinylPlus Product Label, demonstrating compliance with demanding European sustainability criteria for PVC-U products.

Sustainability at Epwin extends beyond certification. The company operates a zero-to-landfill policy, with on-site waste segregation and recycling managed by registered carriers. Production offcuts are reprocessed into recycled composite material for use in thermal inserts.

In addition, post-consumer PVC-U windows and doors are recycled at its UK facility. End-of-life frames are converted into high-quality recycled compound and reintegrated into new products, supporting a fully closed-loop model.
