Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has announced plans to acquire an 80% stake in Italian aluminium recycling company Eco Green, strengthening its position in the global secondary aluminium market and expanding its recycling capacity across Europe.
Eco Green, founded in 1993 by the Scappini family and still family-led, specialises in aluminium scrap collection, sorting, casting, and dross processing. The company handles more than 70,000 tonnes of aluminium material annually, serving over 60 customers across Europe, primarily in the aluminium processing and semi-fabrication industries. Its end-use markets include automotive, construction, and a range of industrial sectors.
The company operates two key facilities in northeastern Italy. Its Villafranca di Verona plant processes around 23,000 tonnes of aluminium scrap per year through collection, sorting, and distribution activities. A portion of this material is supplied to Eco Green’s nearby Nogara di Verona facility, which produces more than 20,000 tonnes of secondary aluminium sows annually and also processes aluminium dross.
Eco Green is currently investing in an expansion at its Nogara site, which will add a further 15,000 tonnes per year of recycled aluminium capacity. The expansion is expected to be completed in the first half of the second half of 2026, further strengthening its production capabilities.
