Constellium has signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the municipality of Gottmadingen, Germany, securing a dedicated supply of locally generated renewable electricity for its extrusion and automotive structures facilities in Gottmadingen and Singen.
Under the 10-year agreement, Constellium will receive the full electricity output of the Katzental solar park, located in the immediate vicinity of both manufacturing sites. The locally generated solar energy will be used exclusively by the Gottmadingen and Singen plants and is expected to cover more than 25% of their combined annual electricity demand.
The agreement represents a significant step in Constellium’s decarbonisation strategy and is projected to reduce the company’s carbon footprint by approximately 3,500 metric tons of CO₂ emissions each year. Electricity deliveries from the Katzental solar park are scheduled to begin in spring 2027, following the completion of the electrical infrastructure required to connect the solar installation directly to Constellium’s production facilities.
Stéphane Corre, President of Constellium’s Automotive Structures and Industry business unit, highlighted the importance of the partnership, stating that sourcing renewable electricity produced within the local region strengthens the company’s ability to provide low-carbon aluminium solutions to its customers while supporting broader sustainability objectives.
Constellium’s Gottmadingen and Singen operations form part of the company’s extrusion business, producing advanced aluminium solutions for a wide range of industrial applications. The facilities are key suppliers to the automotive sector, manufacturing products including crash management systems, structural components and battery enclosure solutions for electric vehicles.
