Certerra has announced the acquisition of Paramount Consulting & Engineering (PCE), a leading South Florida provider of building envelope consulting, glazing inspections, waterproofing assessments, forensic engineering, and special inspection services. The acquisition marks a strategic expansion for Certerra, enhancing its capabilities in one of the nation’s most complex and highly regulated construction markets.
Headquartered in Miami, PCE was founded in 2010 by professional engineer Cesar Soto and has built a strong reputation for delivering technical consulting and inspection services across commercial, residential, mixed-use, hospitality, and high-rise developments throughout South Florida. The company currently supports more than 1,500 active projects, providing expertise in glass and glazing systems, curtain walls, storefront installations, waterproofing systems, exterior wall assemblies, roofing interfaces, and building envelope performance evaluations.
South Florida presents unique challenges for building envelope professionals due to its exposure to hurricanes, high winds, heavy rainfall, saltwater corrosion, extreme humidity, and increasingly stringent building code requirements. As a result, demand for specialized inspection and forensic services has grown significantly, particularly for façade systems and glazing installations designed to meet impact-resistance and energy-performance standards.
Through the acquisition, Certerra expands its portfolio beyond traditional materials engineering, geotechnical services, and environmental consulting into advanced building envelope testing and inspection. The addition of PCE’s expertise enables Certerra to offer comprehensive services throughout a building’s lifecycle, from site investigation and materials testing during construction to façade inspections, waterproofing assessments, failure investigations, and long-term asset management.
“Paramount Consulting & Engineering’s technical depth and proven track record in South Florida position us as a full-lifecycle testing, inspection and certification provider,” said Certerra CEO Ed Lyon. “Their expertise in building envelope consulting, forensic engineering, and code-driven inspections significantly strengthens our Southeast operations.”
