MSolar to Invest $23.7 Million in Virginia Solar Manufacturing Facility

MSolar Manufacturing is set to expand domestic solar production with a $23.7 million investment in a new manufacturing facility in Mount Jackson, Virginia. The project is expected to create 150 new jobs in Shenandoah County and strengthen the U.S. solar supply chain through vertically integrated production.

The Virginia-based startup will establish its operations in a 56,000-square-foot facility designed to manufacture high-efficiency solar modules for utility-scale and commercial energy projects. The company plans to produce key components including solar glass, silicon cells, heterojunction (HJT) cells, and fully assembled solar panels under one roof.

According to MSolar, the facility will have the capacity to manufacture more than 500,000 HJT solar panels annually once fully operational. HJT technology is widely recognized for its high energy conversion efficiency, improved performance in varying temperatures, and long-term durability, making it increasingly attractive for large-scale renewable energy developments.

“We’re building the foundation of a vertically integrated solar manufacturing platform here in Virginia,” said Michael O’Connor, CEO of MSolar. “This factory represents the first step in our long-term strategy to expand domestic solar production and deliver high-performance technology for energy projects.”

Founded in 2018, MSolar aims to support the transition to clean energy through domestic manufacturing and advanced solar technologies. The company’s investment aligns with broader efforts to increase U.S.-based production of renewable energy components and reduce reliance on imported materials.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked alongside Shenandoah County officials to secure the project and will support workforce development through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.
