The BEC Conference 2024 is taking place in Nashville and will conclude today, March 5.
This is the premiere education and networking event for the glazing industry and is attended by more than 700 contract glaziers, fabricators, and suppliers.
Many people are sharing positive feedback about the conference.
For example, Katy Devlin says that BEC is her favorite glass event of the year due to the strong community and connection among attendees. Clover Architectural Glass says that it is one of the great industry events and something that they never miss, while Eastman Chemical Company highlights the opportunity to reconnect with peers and stay updated on the latest industry innovations.
During the conference, Troy Johnson of Harmon, Inc. gave the keynote presentation titled “Disruption is Coming? Are You Ready?” Johnson suggests that new entrants to the industry will be “the disruptors.” To prepare for disruption, companies should focus on building a strong foundation that includes organizational health, a solid business strategy, strengthened operating systems, and identifying unmet customer needs. Individuals should also embrace a growth mindset that includes skill acquisition, digital literacy, and the ability to embrace change.
According to Ricardo Maiz, president of Vitro Architectural Glass, the flat glass industry is expected to see a large increase in the use of float glass for solar energy between now and 2032. Maiz also notes that float glass in general is expected to see an 8 percent per year growth in that time frame. Glass is now expected to have more functionalities and purposes, such as thermal performance, dynamic glazing, technology, sustainability, safety, and well-being.
