The 2nd Annual Glass Symposium, presented by the Glass & Metal Alliance of Greater Philadelphia, took place on Wednesday, 29 April 2026 at the historic Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The event brought together more than 100 experienced professionals from across the architecture, construction, engineering, manufacturing, and supply sectors, creating a strong platform for education, networking, and industry collaboration.
A key focus of the symposium was improving glazing quality and reducing construction defects through better training, standards, and installation practices. Attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with industry experts and explore best practices designed to enhance safety and performance in modern glazing systems.
The Glazing Certification exhibit booth was a central point of interest throughout the event. AGMT and NACC representatives were present to provide insights into certification programs and their role in improving workforce competency and project outcomes. Program Manager Scott Kennett, alongside AGMT certified glaziers Doug Drysdale and Billy Graham, delivered a presentation titled “Curtainwall Installation Processes and Controls to Prevent Construction Defects.”
Their session highlighted common risks associated with curtainwall and glazing installation, as well as practical strategies to mitigate them. These included the use of well-trained AGMT certified glaziers, the implementation of structured installation process controls required by NACC certified contractors, and the development of specifications that mandate both NACC and AGMT credentials for installers.
According to Kennett, the symposium was a strong success, praising both the organization of the Glass & Metal Alliance and the quality of the educational content. He also emphasized the value of the event in connecting industry leaders with leading vendors and experts.
