Owens Corning Sells Glass Reinforcements Unit for $645M to Praana Group to Sharpen Building Products Focus

Owens Corning has completed the sale of its glass reinforcements business to Praana Group for $645 million, marking a decisive step in reshaping its portfolio toward core building products. The transaction generated approximately $280 million in immediate cash proceeds, with an additional $50–70 million expected over the next year through excess alloy sales tied to the divested unit.

The move aligns with Owens Corning’s ongoing strategy to concentrate on branded residential and commercial construction solutions, particularly across North America and Europe. By exiting the glass reinforcements segment, the company is narrowing its operational focus to its three primary divisions: roofing, insulation, and doors. These segments collectively serve both residential and commercial markets, where demand for energy efficiency, durability, and integrated building systems continues to grow.

According to CEO Brian Chambers, the divestment reflects a multi-year effort to streamline the business and strengthen its position as a leading integrated building products manufacturer. The company aims to leverage stronger cash flow generation from its core segments to support future growth initiatives and disciplined capital allocation.

The glass reinforcements business, previously part of Owens Corning’s composites portfolio, produces materials used to enhance the strength and performance of composite applications across industries such as transportation, infrastructure, and consumer goods. Under Praana Group’s ownership, the unit will continue to operate as a standalone platform, maintaining its presence in global industrial markets.
