The Big 5 South Africa Impact Awards 2026, held on 10 June alongside Big 5 Construct South Africa, celebrated outstanding achievements across South Africa’s construction, infrastructure and transport sectors. The awards honored projects, organizations, teams and individuals making a significant contribution to the country’s built environment, with winners recognized across 13 categories, including Rising Star of the Year and Contractor of the Year.
The awards concluded three days of exhibitions, networking and knowledge-sharing, where industry professionals explored the latest technologies, project opportunities and strategies shaping the future of construction. According to Josine Heijmans, Senior Vice President at dmg events, the event successfully connected buyers, suppliers, investors, project owners and policymakers, strengthening collaboration across the industry.
Educational sessions at the CPD-certified Big 5 Talks focused on improving project delivery through better risk management, stakeholder collaboration and accountability. Experts also highlighted sustainable construction practices, including resource-efficient building methods and the increased use of recycled materials.
At Infra360, discussions explored how digital technologies, data analytics and artificial intelligence are improving infrastructure planning and service delivery. Meanwhile, Transport Evolution Africa examined the role of Special Economic Zones, integrated road and rail networks, and public-private partnerships in strengthening regional trade and logistics.
