Chongzheng Shengda Glass Co., Ltd., part of the Shandong Chongzheng Group, has taken a major technology leap by installing the world’s first 8 × 3.3 metre insulating glass line with thermoplastic spacers (TPA) from LiSEC. The new system sets a benchmark for large-format TPS/TPA insulating glass production, positioning the Zibo-based manufacturer at the front of high-efficiency, high-precision IG manufacturing for architectural and façade applications.

Operating from a high-tech industrial park in Zibo, Shandong, Chongzheng Shengda is known for energy-efficient functional glass production, with a portfolio focused on 4SG and low-E glass for architecture, façades, and structural engineering. The decision to scale up with the 8 × 3.3 m format reflects a strategy built on advanced automation, repeatable quality, and long-term sustainability gains.

LiSEC’s Thermoplastic Spacer Application technology replaces conventional spacer frame handling with a fully automated process where thermoplastic material is applied directly onto the glass sheet. The spacer is fed from a drum, heated, applied with high accuracy, and the corners are hermetically sealed using compression technology, eliminating bending, assembling, and frame-related variability.

Production advantages delivered by the LiSEC TPA system include:

  • No frame fabrication step → shorter cycle times and fewer handling errors
  • Precision edge sealing with clean geometry and no visible joints
  • Format flexibility → quick shifts between IG sizes and spacer widths without downtime
  • Durability-focused sealing through chemically stable bonding between glass, TPA material, and sealant
  • Up to 30% lower energy consumption, supported by optimized processes and intelligent line control

The LiSEC–Chongzheng Shengda relationship dates back to 1998, when the first LiSEC insulating glass line and cutting system were introduced. That long-term reliability became critical when implementing a line that is unique globally in these dimensions.

With commissioning completed, Chongzheng Shengda reports:

  • ~30% reduction in energy consumption through process optimization
  • Efficiency uplift through re-structured production and packaging workflows

More than a machine installation, this project is a clear signal: 8 × 3.3 m TPS insulating glass is now industrial reality, and the standards for large-format façade IG production just moved forward.
