At Glass Performance Days (GPD) 2025 in Tampere, Finland, Folienwerk Wolfen showcased its latest developments in thin glass technology. As a sponsor and exhibitor, the company highlighted its role in advancing architectural glass and building envelopes.
Revolutionizing Laminated Thin Glass for Architecture
A key focus was their research on laminated thin glass with defined strength and safe breakage behavior. This innovation enables architects and façade engineers to create lightweight, free-form building designs without compromising safety or performance. The thin glass reduces building weight and supports energy-efficient façades with minimal visual impact.
Research Supported by Industry Leaders
This progress came through collaboration with TUD Dresden University of Technology, Schott Technical Glass Solutions GmbH, and funding from Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and AiF Project GmbH. These partnerships highlight the value of public-private cooperation in advancing building technology.
EVA Interlayers for Next-Gen Glazing
Folienwerk Wolfen also offers high-performance EVA interlayer films, notably evguard and evguard MPE. Made in Germany, these films improve laminated glass by enhancing impact resistance, UV protection, and stability. They are essential for balustrades, canopies, and insulating glass units where safety and durability matter.
Sharing Knowledge and Driving Innovation
Folienwerk Wolfen contributed to the special GPD publication Glass Construction & Facade, sharing technical insights. As the glass industry evolves, Folienwerk Wolfen remains a key player shaping the future of architectural glazing.
