Set amidst a dense forest in Terrebonne, Quebec, the new Intermunicipal Police Headquarters blends modern design with environmental sensitivity. Built to LEED Gold standards, the 140,000-square-foot facility serves Terrebonne, Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, and Bois-des-Filion.
Designed by Lemay with construction by Sid Lee Architecture, the building features a layered glazing system that balances aesthetics, performance, and security. Walker Glass supplied its Walker Textures Satinlite acid-etched glass, fabricated by Prelco and installed by Groupe Brosseau Vitrerie.
The building’s two volumes echo the forest landscape, its upper structure recalling tree trunks, while the darker glass base reflects the shaded ground. The Satinlite finish gives the façade a soft, matte appearance that diffuses light and minimizes glare, allowing the architecture to merge naturally with its surroundings. A reflective interlayer adds subtle depth, creating a dynamic interplay of light that evolves throughout the day.
