Vitro Architectural Glass’ BirdSmart® Bird Safe Glass has been recognized by The Architect’s Newspaper as a Best of Products 2026 winner in the Building Materials + Facades: Glass category.
Now in its 12th year, the Best of Products Awards highlight innovations and material advancements across the built environment. Products are evaluated by a multidisciplinary panel of architects, industrial designers and façade consultants based on innovation, aesthetics, performance, sustainability, life cycle and value.
BirdSmart® glass is designed to help architects address bird-collision risks while maintaining the visual and performance requirements of high-performance glazing. The product features first-surface, laser-etched dot patterns combined with a Solarban® solar control low-e coating on the second surface.
According to Vitro, testing has shown that the BirdSmart pattern does not affect the performance of Solarban® low-e coatings, visible light transmittance (VLT) or solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC).
The glass is available on clear, Starphire Ultra-Clear®, Acuity® low-iron and select tinted glass products. It can also be combined with Vitro’s Solarban® low-e coatings.
Manufactured at Vitro’s Wichita Falls, Texas, facility, BirdSmart® glass is available in sizes up to 130 × 240 inches, including Titan™ glass, and can be ordered in quantities as small as one pack.
